Meet Greg!
Greg and his family have called Palo Alto home for more than 35 years. During that time, he has been very active in youth and neighborhood activities. He chaired Committee 2000 in the 1980s, which kept Gunn High School open; and he served on the PAUSD Board when Jordan opened its doors again. His School Board tenure gave him valuable experience in making important long-term policy decisions while keeping a large and complex public budget in balance.
Professionally, Greg has degrees in History and Economics from Yale and Columbia. As an economist, he directed a research division in the Federal Reserve System. Over the last 25 years, as a strategic planning consultant he has helped large multinational companies adapt to changing demographic, economic, technological, and organizational challenges. He also worked extensively with governments, including San Francisco on their plans for Mission Bay, Anaheim, Portland, Sacramento, and the California State Library.
Greg's experience on the Palo Alto School Board (and 25 year tenure as the Treasurer of a Silicon Valley research group) gives him strong qualifications for the budget oversight function of the Council. His planning work with the variety of sophisticated international businesses and large government agencies provides valuable experience in constantly balancing the benefits of having a clear strategic vision with the realities of getting things done. His experience will bring a valuable perspective to Palo Alto.
